Our trip to Goa

We normally don't do family vacations. We live in different places, have different temperaments and are often not on talking terms. But this time we somehow managed to actually plan a family vacation.

So we decided to go to Goa during Diwali 2016. We first caught an Uber to Ahmedabad, then boarded a train to Madgaon, and finally caught an overpriced cab to Agonda. Agonda, in case you don't know, is a super chilled beach resort. It is not exactly a party destination, but more of a yoga retreat beach.

We stayed in a beach hut. Our manager informed us that the beach huts are actually constructed just before high season - and taken down as the season winds up. This is due to some Government regulation that limits permanent construction near the beach area.

We ate a lot of fancy cuisine. I remember eating lobsters, chicken, oysters, and other fancy seafood. I remember having fried mackerel for 50Rs at a local dhaba.

The weather was a bit odd. I remember it getting super chilly at night once. Even the locals seemed a bit confused. Thankfully the next day, it was back to normal.

The return trip was a bit more challenging. Since we did not have return tickets, we had to first catch a bus to Mumbai - and then a train back to Ahmedabad.

Goa is a great vacation destination, and I hope to return there soon.
